Ann Kearsley Design has been designing landscapes for art, and siting and managing the installation of sculpture in existing landscapes, since 1996. The challenge of designing a landscape for sculpture is to create spatial structures which not only contain sculptural form, but which also help render the meanings of those forms legible by shaping the sensual and perceptual experience of the viewer. It is not a question of merely "framing" the artwork, but rather juxtaposing landscape form with sculptural form and using the viewer/occupant's body as the perceptual bridge linking these two very different means of expression.
